    Video Cameras

Our video programs are based on the high definition standard. When purchasing a video camera it is important to purchase a HD, SDHC compatible, camera. The cameras we currently purchase for use at GCC are Canon. The range and price of video cameras is constantly changing - do not purchase a camera until you are ready to start using it and after you have consulted with your instructor.

    Still Cameras

If you are a photography major purchasing a digital still camera we recommend you choose an DSLR type camera that takes detatchable lenses and has selectable manual modes. The cameras we currently purchase for use at GCC are Nikon. It is a good idea to purchase a DSLR which has HD video capabilities so that you may also use it in your video courses. Feel free to consult with your instructor if you require further information.

    Storage

It is recommended that you purchase a portable 1TB - 2TB hard drive with a rate of 7200 rpm through which you can backup and transport your digital files. A G-Technology G-DRIVE mobile 1TB USB 3.0 7200 RPM External Drive (0G02874) is a suitable solution. You should also purchgase a 16-32 GB USB Flash Drive. NOTE: video courses require a hard drive.
