The Art Club mission is to maintain a supportive community for those interested in the Visual Arts. Through regular gatherings, we aim to create an inspirational environment where individuals are invited to engage in dialogue about contemporary art issues, participate in the process of traditional and experimental art making and nurture one another’s creativity.
This group meets weekly for one hour in the GCC studios. The club is supported through Student Life at GCC and is open to all GCC students, staff and faculty as well as the greater community outside of GCC. Activities have varied from critiquing individual work, attending artist lectures, experimental watercolor practices to publishing collaborative editions of zines.
This semester the Art Club is holding a weekly sketchbook hour, Mondays at Noon in S113. The first meeting will be September 19th, 2016.
This will be a time for people to develop or continue a productive sketchbook practice. Sketchbooks will be provided for anyone who wants to commit to participating every Monday for the semester or you can bring your existing sketchbook and drop in whenever you want. A variety of art materials will be available, or you can bring the supplies of your choice. This will be an hour for drawing, collaging, painting, developing ideas or simply doodling in your own sketchbook. It will also be a time to chat with other artists and share ideas. Feel free to bring your lunch!
The Art Club is open to everyone in the GCC community and beyond, regardless of experience. Please join us!
